OIAM 2nd entry.....

This will be my 2nd entry on OIAM (One In A Million), as you've read the previous entry i've posted before (on 25th Nov entry), i was talking about me joining the singing competition. Well oh well, i have a friend of mine who indeed just love singing as much as me, as passionate in music as i do, and no doubt he is way more talented than i am!! He plays the guitar (so much better than me for sure), piano (i guess) & he does compose songs (i think so). He got the look, the charm and the mind-soothing voice as the ladies claimed his voice has never failed to melt their hearts.. Yes, i've got some encouraging feedbacks from some of my girl-friends regarding his voice. Even i myself admire his voice though. Lol. He won the top prize for UTAR Talent Night this year anyway.

So this friend of mine just went for OIAM giving it a shot last Saturday in KL Berjaya Times Square Audition. According to him, the number of contestants is overwhelming compared to the one i attended in Penang. Coz the audition in KL itself took almost 2 days to complete. Hell no way i would stand for that long man. When i was asking about his whereabout at 8pm on the first day, (thought he would have done his round by that time) my friend passed me the message that he has done with the first round and got throough & he's in the waiting room for the second round. I would have done even my second round by that time in Penang. My goodness!! He had to stay overnight.

As i was so sure as i was telling everyone earlier on that he will 100% make it through the first round at least, & he did it as i said!!! I actually put a little hope on him that he would eventually pass the second time as well, but unfortunately not... sigh.. but in the end, it's all the experience matter & it's worth trying it...lol

As i didnt ask any further, i have no idea if he did any mistakes during the second time neither what the comments from the judges. Well, i shall check it out later when i got to meet him back in Kampar.

OIAM!!!

For those who do not have a clue what OIAM (One In A Million) is, it is one of Malaysia most succesful reality tv show running for its third season on 8tv. It is like any other talent-scout show, a singing competition searching for the next superstar nationwide. Besides the signing of a recording contract as the grand prize, 1million Ringgit cash is to be won as well.

Ok, so i thought of giving it a try since it's held on the same day at the same time im coming to Penang. Have always been fascinating about taking part in this kind of singing talent show but always it's either i was too busy or the time was not right. So this time thought of going it for fun though it's not the right time yet too considering that im still in the mid of doin' my degree!!!

So i got to the counter for registeration.......there weren't many people though actually. The registration was only open from 9am to 3pm. Only 160 registered up in total. I was the 99th one. (lucky number?)lolz.....



So i was made to wait at the hall with other contestants. I was so nervous that time geez, while waiting for my number to be called out.....

We were made to known that actually Paul Moss & Shafinaz couldnt make themselves present for this audition... therefore, they would be watching us (contestants) through webcam from KL...what the hell...at least it'd be better as there would be less tension as you're not singing face to face to the judges?but somehow, i guess our performance could be affected in a way, depends on how good the quality of the live video of us they are watching back in KL.

"7091, 7093, 7095, 7097, 7099, please get ready".... my number was called.. shit...scared like shit..


There were 5 of us...i was the last one.. it's seems like we have to go in 5 by 5 together in the audition room and there were a guy and a lady as "judges" sitting at the table in the room, they were the ones who are communicating with Paul Moss and Shafinaz whom are watching us through webcam. So whatever that Paul or Shaf wanted to say, the 2 "judges" would pass the message to us...gosh, freaking nervous ok!! With the crews dealing with recording video and lightings surrounding you while you're singing. Well, the first guy belted out Faizal Tahir song 'Gemuruh'.. i was amazed by his voice power. Next up, another guy singing another malay song and another girl singing yet another malay song both with quite a well-controlled voice, but the songs they picked were quite boring though. Feeling belittled by their performance...then my turn, holy shit, "die die la, aiyo"...i did Waiting on The World to Change by John Mayer...


Oh boy, they stopped me in less than 30 seconds..i was like, my goodness, i sure cant get through lor. The 4 of them before me sang at least a minute or more but i only sang for less than 30seconds!!! What does this mean!!!


Sei lor...while waiting for feedback from Paul and Shaf whom are in KL...then suddenly a lady came to call out a few numbers... "Ok, those numbers i've called out, you may go back home, thanks for coming!!" .... wait a minute... i did not hear my number did i!!! Looking blur, I went up to her and asked, "Excuse me, did u call my number?7099?"


She was like "Nope, i did not, so that means you are through the next round. Congratulations!!"


I couldnt believe it at all... because those before me do really have nice voice wor especially the Faizal Tahir guy. Perhaps they are looking for originality, they dont want any clone of any artist perhaps?


I GOT THROUGH FIRST ROUND!! but i was told that those who got through the first round have to wait for yet another round of audition? What the hell?! Why is there 2nd round?


Ok, then i waited and waited till so long...boredom is just killing me ... I've almost spent half of the day for this thingy...


By 8pm, I was almost the last one for the 2nd round. But till that moment, there're only 5 who really got through (to KL for next preliminary elimination). What a small number, out of 160?


Then in 2nd round, i couldnt find myself comfortable, with the odd way of audition-ing us, and that i had not eaten anything since morning excpet for a piece of chicken for lunch until 8pm, i just fumbled & i didnt make it...


Haha, nevermind, it's worth the experience, to see how actually these reality shows are being made...actually, it wasnt that real after all you know, those recaps on tv,etc...hahaha, now i know..Now i know better how it is like to be on show & my mistakes,therefore should be able to get more well prepared next time (if only i wanna give it a next shot^^)


Thinking back, i think i shouldn't have sung the same song in the 2nd round lar. I thought it'd be safer with the first song since they let me passed through with it. But now i think they might thought i have no other song but Waiting On The World To Change again!!!!!

Thunder

Last night i got myself to play the song 'Thunder' by the Boys Like Girls on my guitar in 30minutes. Yea, im back again with my guitar finally.
Lately i have the music rush in me again. Am thinking of resuming my halted recording deal. Since i have the time... Should i should i not....

Hmm, to those who know about the "thing" that i've been seeing&planning all this while, i'd lke to announce it has been halted..just put it on hold first due to some unavoidable circumstances.Some of you would be dissapointed, i know. Im sorry, but i wont give it up.It might take me for months again, or it could be years. Well, looking at the bright side, i have more time to brush things up...Mucho Gracias to those who has been giving me support and courage!!Thanks a lot & it means a lot to me...

Weee.....As i predicted earlier, the two DAVIDS finally going head-to-head in the finale!!!!!

It's gonna be a hard one, coz the two are from totally different genres...A rocker and another ballad singer...So, who will win? Keep the final say till we see how the two performed on that very history-making night!No doubt recording deals are just at the doorsteps for both of them now no matter who wins...

As for tomorrow, for those who knows what i'll be doin , please keep your finger crossed for me. Lately my voice didnt seem fit enough.....gee.....

Working On It!!!

Gee...how long has it been taking me to complete this song?

First of all, i have this problem that my song compositions always tend to sound like chinese pop. I just dont know why. Remember the very first song i composed was when i were er...13years old? I played it on the piano to my teacher & she was a little shocked, sorta, because i admit i wasnt good in piano that time as in exams (borderline marks), giving me compliments and all while she did try to put some touch here & there to make it sounds better...Oooh, it was encouraging, especially when you know you always scored not so good marks in exams and somebody liked your compositions and giving compliments and stuffs like that.& there i start to go kick some asses...

Since then i've been jotting down the notes and melody lines whenever a tune starts playing in my head.If there's no papers or pen i'd quickly get to my piano and keep playing it till it stuck to my head or i'd keep humming the tune till i get to jot them down. Sometimes i'd use a recorder or with my mobile phone to record my pieces.

But now realising that all of my pieces actually sounded a lil like chinese pop songs is giving me a question mark. Is it a good thing considering i dont know chinese. I mean of course a song has to come with lyrics right? So who will pen those chinese lyrics down? Or pen it in english or malay?with the song sounded like chinese?Hmmm...ya...can also la...Ok settled.

When comes to penning lyrics, it's giving me a hard time too...Just cant get the flow sometimes...Always stuck halfway or sometimes when it's completed but when i sing it out a few times, i'd go "er, it doesnt sound nice afterall, sux" and i cancel everything and get back to the start and rethink all over again...or maybe i set myself to high?or lack of inspirations/confidence?But thanks to you-know-who-you-guys-are who bought me a book for my birthday!!It's>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Yet to really go through it though...but hope it helps. Anyway, im now currently working on a song that i think it suits better with a guitar. That's why im picking up a guitar on my own now (since january)...

Till then, tomorrow it's gonna be a quite important day for me...an interesting one.

Hopefully it'll turn out well. Gonna tell you what it is soon... XD

Idol Fever

Okay..see that?im sure whoever has a tv at home would have known this show pretty well...some might go "ah...boring..sick with it, (concerning the show has been running for 7th season now!)" or some couldnt be bothered or some might just stick their a**, er no need to be decent la okay, stick their ass tight on their seat and start reading this. Oh man, im gonna tell you, im a HUGE HUGE fan of this show ever since its 3rd season being shown in malaysia & i've never missed a single episode!!! Well, i did catch up with the 1st two season though on the internet. Before anything yet, gotta tell ya, im an Idol addict/freak that somebody would call me, there's no way to shut my attention off when there's any topic of idol going on.Sometimes i'd bugged my friends and talked about it till the whole season ends and this keeps repeating season after season..haha. Sorry buddies...





So, this season of 7th has gone down to 3 contestants. From 5 of my early top favourite ones have now gone to 2 that made up the current Top3...Take a look.....

Sadly Carly and Brooke got the boot earlier than they should. Darn!! It's said there's a group of people call Vote For The Worst who has nothing better in their life that they pick the worst ones and trying to get them to the top or possibly to be crowned with the title...gosh!!Get a life!!! They are killing people's dreams!!



At least there was a sign of relief that Jason Castro got voted off last week,finally.



Liked him when he belted out the song "hallelujah" but later on he didnt seem good enough at all.Not even deserved to be in the Top4 spot...He was sorta annoying & got me into nerves when the time you could see him laughing, smiling and smirking like nobody's business behind once was Carly and another was Brooke while they were belting out their farewell performances. C'mon, how could he do that?! where the rest of the remaining contestants were not to be seen smiling or smirking like a jerk, at least act it out, keep the joy to yourself...






Seeing last week's show and a few before, Syesha Mecardo

actually seemed deserving the title, if given her in any of the past seasons, she could potentially be the winner, but too bad as she has to face the Davids in this season; David Cook, the one that i think the most talented & boldest of all of the others in the Idol history for he altered & modified any songs that make into his own! Namely Hello by Lionel Richie, Billie Jeans by Chris Cornell, Always Be My Baby by Mariah Carey. It takes a lot of guts to do so...& of course talent...whereas David Archuleta seemed to have captured a lot of hearts ever since his early sparkle during the workshop when he sang Imagine that touched hearts (my cousin was almost in tears & i was so into the depth of the song while he belted it out). Frankly, this year's bunch of talents are actually a lot better off than the previous ones i guess (except for 1 or 2), something special in every each of them.well, i think Jason's not bad though but not to the extent of reaching top4 spot..cant wait for this week's...
